POMBE SIGARA Lyrics - NVIIRI the Storyteller

Pombe Sigara by Nviiri the storyteller (TSM)

Intro

(Film Speaks)

Oh, ooh, pombe sigara

Naweza wacha bila kung’ang’ana

Lakini hawa wasichana

Vile nawapenda, ni kama laana…

Ooh, Sol Generation

I’m the storyteller, eh, ah, eh

Ooh, lord

Verse 1

Naskia walevi huota na beer

Lakini kuna siri nitawaibia leo

See I’m not addicted to alcohol, I’m not a victim, not at all

Yalimpata Samson, yakampata Solomon

 Pre - Chorus

Situation hugeuka tricky, kila shimo napanda miti

Contribution kwa team mafisi Karura

Ayy, situation hugeuka tricky, kwa hivyo

Musiniweke kamba kwa shingo

Chorus

Pombe sigara

Naweza wacha bila kung’ang’ana

Lakini hawa wasichana

Vile nawapenda, ni kama laana, ah

(Beats…)

 Verse 2

Someone please call 911

Tell them Storyteller has gone down

Eti alivunja shingo akalemewa akatoa fimbo nje ya ndoa

Na hivo ndivo alijichomea

 Pre - Chorus 2

Ayy, situation imekuwa tricky, kuna shimo alipanda miti

Na hivi sasa ako Kamiti, kwa jela

Ayy, situation hugeuka tricky, kwa hivyo

Musiniweke kamba kwa shingo

 Chorus

Pombe sigara, ah

Naweza wacha bila kung’ang’ana, ah

Lakini hawa wasichana

Vile nawapenda, ni kama laana, ah

Ooh, yeah, yeah

Pombe sigara, ah

Naweza wacha bila kung’ang’ana, ah

Lakini hawa wasichana (maze)

Vile nawapenda, ni kama laana, ah

Ooh, yeah, yeah

TAMASHA - ALBUM REVIEW

Tamasha Album - The Song Magazine

The Review

This album came out yesterday and to be honest I was a little skeptical about it because their genre of music is totally out of my comfort zone rather, what I usually listen to.  I must say that these three men are lyrical geniuses, I guess that’s why people like their songs so much and this makes their songs very catchy. Their genre actually makes me think of getting in to a matatu to go home  after a long day of running errands in town but there were these particular songs that I really liked ;

 Tamasha!

This song caught my attention because it has a different melody than what has been used in the other songs. The other reason is that they integrated kikuyu in it for instance’ tiga wana mani’ which I think really adds flavor to the song. As the title a state, this song is really suitable for parties because of its groovy melody people will be dancing to it, even if they don’t understand the lyrics.

 Confirmed...

I really liked this song because the lyrics are very relatable. If it’s confirming the fuliza, confirming if you have locked your door or being confirmed as a Christian I think one of these events one can attest that they have experienced them once in their lives.  We also see the word play used throughout the song to explain the title of the song.

The other songs in the album include Toka Watu, which I actually thought was stealing from people but it actually stresses the need to be alone, not in the sense of loneliness but rather solitude. Expressway, which was really catchy, Bae Wako amekusave Aje, tanker and Stakabadhi.

Although the songs were fascinating ,some of the lyrics  were hard to make sense of  because they focused on the lyrical flow. However, I commend the artists for their creativity  on how their words rhyme  and blend together which makes this particular genre they’re in very unique. The Kenyan music industry needs a breath of fresh air and this is it. I for sure will add this album to my playlist and I hope you will too.

Verse 1 (Niviri the Storyteller)

What a waste

Baby tumejiseti, we on the highway

Tukafunga breki, tukaanza bishana

Asking, “Who is Diana?” Vipi mnajuana

I swear tumeji-betray, baby tumejiseti

‘Cause love isn’t here right now

I guess we’ll never know (Never know)

Mahali hii story ingeenda

Pre-chorus (Niviri)

(Tulichoanza) Kuja tumalize

(Kinachokwaza) Baby, ziandike

(Punguza drama) Baby, zitushike

(Washa kishada…)

Chorus (Bien)

I don’t wanna argue, ka uko sawa, me niko sawa

Ka uko sawa, me niko sawa

Aki zile vitu tulipanga

Ukanishukisha number

Najua una-miss hii kitanda

Vile visa na visanga

Aki zile vitu tulifanya

Kabla ubadilishe number

Verse 2 (Bien)

Bado we husemanga mi ni psycho

Bado me hupiganga simu yako

Nili-delete-ingi number yako

Lakini naikmbukanga kwa moyo, yo

And I just can’t explain

Thoughts of you and me keep going up and down in my brain

And you were looking for some love, didn’t care forthe  fame

I was looking for a good time, playing the game, yeah, ah

And now am stuck on my lane

Moving in together, baby, it was never the same

Oh, it’s such a shame, kila saa tunagombana

Lini tutaelewana? Yeah

Pre –chorus (Niviri)

(Tulichoanza) Kuja tumalize

(Kinachokwaza) Baby, ziandike

(Punguza drama) Baby, zitushike

(Washa kishada)

Chorus (Bien)

I don’t wanna argue, ka uko sawa, me niko sawa

Ka uko sawa, me niko sawa

Aki zile vitu tulipanga

Ukanishukisha number

Najua una-miss hii kitanda

Vile visa na visanga

Aki zile vitu tulifanya

Kabla ubadilishe number

Outro (Bien)

I don’t wanna argue, Kama uko sawa, me niko sawa

Ka uko sawa, me niko sawa

Aki zile vitu tulipanga

Ukanishukisha number

Najua ume-miss hii kitanda

Vile visa na visanga

Aki zile vitu tulifanya

Kabla ubadilishe number
